Require a Project Building Surveyor to fill a vacancy in the present team, to assist with an increasing and varied workload.

The practice has a wide client base and provides architectural services for private residential extensions, alterations and refurbishment; residential and small scale commercial developments; alterations and extensions to period properties; sports pavilions and facilities, alterations and extensions to nursing homes and alteration and refurbishment works for the National Trust.

Building Surveying services include House Buyers and Building Surveys, Party Wall Awards, CDM Co-ordinator, Insurance valuations, etc..

The practice is based in Dorking, Surrey and operates over an area including London and the South East.

The successful applicant is expected to have the following core skills:

• Accurate measurement of buildings and preparation of survey drawings,
• CAD drawing skills using AutoCAD/Architectural Desktop,
• Traditional drafting skills,
• Design flair,
• Preparing and submitting Planning and Building Regulations applications,
• Specification writing,
• Contract administration from inception to completion, including inspection of works in progress,
• Knowledge of relevant legislation: Planning, Building Regs, Party Wall Act, CDM 2007, etc.

Opportunities will also be given to carry out Building Condition Surveys, Party Wall matters, CDM Co-ordinator (Health & Safety), Building Defects Analysis, Disabled Access Requirements, Environmental concerns etc., to become fully involved with all aspects of the workload and the design process.

Candidates should already hold professional qualifications in Building Surveying, though support will be given towards completion of the APC Diary and RICS membership etc..
